55 Years Ago The Ruskies Won!

It was on this date 55 years ago that the real space race began, Sputnik 1 went into orbit. The Russian's beat the Americans into space with their 183 pound sphere. Sputnik means travelling companion in Russian and in 1957 it was the first man made object to make it into space. Oddly the Russians are still in space and the American's are now just hitchhikers!
