On Monday June 25th Uggie the dog co-star of "The Artist" became an official Hollywood star. His paw prints were immortalized in cement at Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. He has joined the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Cary Grant. Uggie's trainer, Omar Van Muller, has announced that Uggie is retiring. Uggie will no longer be a working actor but just a dog. Good for Uggie. His life has not been all gala openings and film sets, Uggie like many other stars has a rough past. He was an unwanted pet surrendered not once but twice by families who thought he was to wild to keep. On his way to the pound Uggie was found and taken in by Van Muller an animal trainer from North Hollywood.
Uggie will now retire and live out the rest of his days in Von Muller's home. Uggie also serves as the perfect example of why dogs need to be saved from impound and euthanasia.
